Rai Way for the new digital TV: DVB-T2 is coming

From 28 August 2024, a number of Rai channels will be broadcast in next-generation digital terrestrial, with the DVB-T2 standard and the new HEVC video coding system. The new digital TV will improve signal quality and make room for high-definition broadcasts.

As owner and operator of RAI’s broadcasting networks, Rai Way is carrying out all the necessary work on its transmission and broadcasting infrastructure. This will lead to the transformation of RAI’s national multiplex, “Mux-B”, with the new DVB-T2 standard and the new HEVC video coding system.

Rai Way will carry out the transition to the new standard between the hours of 01:00 and 06:00 on 28 August 2024 in order to allow users to enjoy international sporting events in the summer of 2024 without interruption, minimising any possible impacts on the public digital terrestrial service during preliminary and operational activities.

Rai Way’s commitment will also continue in the weeks following 28 August: it will carefully monitor the impact of the new digital terrestrial broadcasting on the national coverage of RAI’s services and, if necessary, will continue to optimise network parameters, drawing on the support of a dedicated team of professionals.
